Local Stores and CTN stores are currently seeing a resurgence as people make more convenience and distress purchases. The rapport that the local retailer builds with his customers is something that you do not get when shopping in the Grocery Multiples and encourages consumers to change their shopping habits.
When I took over this store I used my experience, along with the support and information I receive from Trade Press, Manufacturer Reps and my colleagues within the NFRN to change the layout of the store so that my best selling lines are placed in the busiest areas of the store. I have particular success in my store with News & Magazines, Confectionery, and ‘Top Up’ grocery items.
Ferrero Rocher is an important brand to me, not only at seasonal times but, all year round. I find that it is a profit driver for my store and benefits from the strong media support Ferrero give to their products. I chose to display Rocher both on and off shelf by making use of the Vertical Cabinet so that I could pick up impulse purchases as well as catering for the consumer who came into the store to purchase boxed chocolate. By dual siting Rocher I saw a 350% uplift in sales.
